Monongalia County’s Habitat for Humanity homeownership program

If you have an income that is considered low-income, currently live in a sub-standard home in Monongalia County and are willing to partner, you might qualify to own a home through Habitat for Humanity’s homeownership program.

While the process isn’t speedy, if you successfully complete our program you will have the opportunity to own your own home for a lower monthly payment than you might pay to rent even a substandard home.

A good place to start is with the form below to find out if you’re qualified to become a Habitat for Humanity Partner. Please feel free to download and complete the form and mail it to 251 Don Knotts Blvd Morgantown, WV 26501:

JUNE, 2017

Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month and The Longest Day are observed in June

Altenheim Resource & Referral Services and Good Shepherd Nursing Home are partnering to bring you a special program for The Longest Day 2017 and Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month to increase awareness, provide education and garner support for the devastation of dementia.

2:00 PM – 3:00 PM     Sign in starts at 1:30pm

Free and open to the public

Morgan Pavol, Community Education Director of the Mid-Ohio Valley Office of the WV Alzheimer’s Association will present this program at Good Shepherd Nursing Home, 159 Edgington Lane, Wheeling WV in the classroom.

Communication is more than just talking and listening – it’s also about sending and receiving messages through attitude, tone of voice, facial expressions and body language. As people with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias progress in their journey and the ability to use words is lost, families need new ways to connect. Join us to explore how communication takes place when someone has Alzheimer’s, learn to decode the verbal and behavioral messages delivered by someone with dementia, and identify strategies to help you connect and communicate at each stage of the disease.  Call us at 304 243-0996 to reserve your space.  Seating is limited.
