Title: Screening to Survivorship: A New Look at Lung Cancer

Course Description: This conference is designed for all health care team members and others who have an interest in optimal care for people undergoing the journey of lung cancer. Information will be provided about the scope of lung cancer in West Virginia and efforts to address needs of people diagnosed with this disease locally and throughout the world. Attendees will learn about current medical and surgical treatments for early‐stage lung disease, as well as
the potential physical and psychological impacts of treatment. Information will also be provided about screening and risk factor reduction, particularly related to tobacco use. Speakers will describe two different models of care for lung cancer survivors, incorporating skilled service provision by a variety of health professionals. Finally, attendees will have a chance to develop a survivorship care plan that addresses the needs of a representative patient case through interactive problem‐solving and discussion. At the end of this conference, attendees will have a greater appreciation for the unique needs of persons with lung cancer across the continuum of care and how to begin to address these needs within their own work settings and disciplines.
