Under new Medicare reimbursement rules, cognitive and functional assessments and care planning for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and other cognitive impairment are covered. The Alzheimer’s Association has created a toolkit for physicians with materials on assessing older adults’ functioning, the severity of their condition, neuropsychiatric symptoms, their safety at home and in outside settings, and the kind and extent of available caregiving support.

Event Location: Monongalia County Ballpark, Granville

The WVU Heart and Vascular Institute is serving as a sponsor of the American Heart Association’s (AHA’s) annual Heart Walk, which will take place on Saturday, Oct. 21, at the Monongalia County Ballpark in Granville.

Registration begins at 9 a.m., and the opening ceremonies get underway at 9:45 a.m. The three-mile, non-competitive walk starts at 10:05 a.m.

The WVU Heart and Vascular Institute will bring the Mega Heart to the event and offer tours.

Event Location: WVU Coliseum

The WVU volleyball team will host a pink game against Kansas State University at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21, at the WVU Coliseum. The team will wear pink jerseys and is encouraging fans to wear pink. Fans will receive pink pom-pom shakers and will have an opportunity to receive the official Mountaineers pink t-shirt for a $10 donation.
